honestly, sounds like you're having slight tranny problems and it could be torque converter slipping. Chevy tranny's are prone to slip and also lose reverse after getting old, check your fluid level and if you get a chance do a fluid and filter change on it and add some Lucas tranny fix stuff to it, yea the bottle cost 10 bucks but it'll save your tranny for a few more months.

Are you talking about a shift flare, when its supposed to shift it revs up like when you push the clutch in on a manual car and gun it. Then eventually it shifts?

I would do what Mick says, check your fluid when the car is warmed up on a flat surface and its running. My tranny guy says to use SmartBlend in the tranny to help it out.

i dont know if this has been already said because like usuall i dont read all the posts but if it is an automatic trans mission, you should look into checking your linkage cable to see if it has gottin stretched out over the year, i was having that same problem on my old 91. 700r4's are notorious for this problen, well atleast my last 2 cars were. but yea i would check the fluid and crap out first.
