Spark Plug Recommendations?

I know you all got your favorite plugs, so lets hear them.

I have tried Bosch 4+, 2+ and regular bosch platinum plugs and they all foul with black deposits in my TPI engine after a few hundred miles.

I was thinking about buying some Champion plugs because there is a rebate on them right now.

I do know that Champion is a company that was started by Albert Champion, the same guy that started AC Spark plugs (AC Delco).

There are so many choices, NGK, Denso, AC Delco, Bosch, Champion, Autolite, etc.

in my opinion, i'd preffer ACCEL. not only is it a good brand.. they specialize in spark/ignition. its weird that u have problems with bosch?! their actually a good brand? heres my top 5 "lighters" i would recomend

1.ACCELL
2.E3
3.Champion
4.AC delco
5.NGK

if u want affordability and a good plug, get ngk.. just to let u know, these guys are univeral, they make sensors like bosch for example: O2 sensors..
getting a sparkplug with "platinum" series dont work well with lightly moded cars, like doing full exhaust, pulleys, bolt ons, etc.. AC is a good brand as well as champion, these two have been in the car buisness A LONG time ago! so u cant go wrong with those brands if you want to get ur moneys worth. hope this helps!

I think I will go for the Champion plugs because they have a pretty good rebate right now at Pep Boys that makes them really cheap to get platinums in for both my cars.

I just need to figure out the detent problem with my transmission in the yellow camaro and I can drive that one again.

I decided to finally change the oil on my car and replace the front brake pads.

The pads are like Wheat Thins, they are so thin you can use them as shims. I dont think you can say the oil is oil anymore, its turned into a new form of coffee.

I am going with a Purolator L34631 (110-130mm long) from a mid-80's 350 Pickup truck for more filtering area for the same size seal as the dinky L15313 (81 mm long). I been using these longer filters for a while now and really like the extra capacity.

I am also going to be using Formula Shell Oil from now on, instead of buying the more expensive Pennzoil or Quaker State. I doubt there is much difference in the quality other than the additive package that they put in it. They are all made by SOPUS anyway (Shell Oil Products US).

I bought the single platinum champion plugs because they were on sale for $2.59 a piece and there was a rebate on them for $1.50 a piece.

I really wanted to look at getting the Iridiums but my car runs so well on the old worn plugs that I dont know if I need to spend the extra money.

The Bosch platinums are in my Z28 and that engine runs crappy and misses throughout the RPM range. I am starting to think AC Delco is the way to go because those were OEM plugs.

NGK UR5's work best for me. They are a shorter plug and actually fit behind the longtubes.

I pulled a plug on my dads camaro and it has hard black deposits on his Bosch 4+ Platinums. I cleaned it off with a battery terminal cleaner and put it back in. I am going to just replace all the plugs, probably with AC Delcos or Champions.

I finally got around to pulling a plug on my IROC and it is an R3 Bosch 2+ plugs and they are amazingly really clean after 3+ years of running them hard.

I have the 2+ on my 86 Z28 and they are fouled and misfiring.

I wonder if having a roller block makes a difference compared to running these plugs in an older hydraulic flat tappet engine.

In my experiences, platinum plugs and iridium plugs are a huge waste of money. Just get ya some AC Delcos, or NGKs or something, gap them properly, and throw them in. The bosch 2+ or 4+ crap is a marketing gimmick. If you want more spark, upgrade your ignition system with quality parts, and bump up the gap on some regular spark plugs.

I used to run the stock AC Delco R43TS plugs in my TPI, but that motor would eat them up quickly. Thats the only reason I started using Platinums. Its a bitch to get in there and swap the spark plugs with the air tubes in the way.

I think I am going to buy a spark plug cleaner and clean these Bosch plugs off and see if they are still good. These plugs really arent that old.
