I started working on it until the machine shop didn't finish the crank. Pictures will be up after I finish, which is expected to be on friday.

pictures are in, will be posting them shortly. There isn't much of a difference between them, mainly the girdle on top and the cover in front of the cam.

Thats a nice little engine there. There is nothing like the satisfaction of doing something yourself.

I was going to go pickup a roller 350 long block that needed rebuilding, but after looking at the machining costs and the costs of replacing all the parts that need to be done in the rebuild, it doesnt seem the right time for me to attempt this.

I need to focus on the transmission in the Z because that car needs to get rolling again. I thought about swapping to a 5 speed, but am looking for a 700R4 that works. I dont know if Big John can fix the one in it anymore, he hasnt returned my PM.

I am pretty close to ripping apart the broken 700 I have in the yard and getting a manual and redoing it myself.

My friend has 2, one running out of a 305 camaro and a core from a caprice. Call me if you want either.

I went with the CompCams .477/471 dur@.050 206/212.

The engine is pretty much broken in now. I'm going tune it a bit more and head back out to the track. My first gear is absolutely worthless.

Check out this 372 HP 305 engine build on a non-roller engine:

http://www.popularhotrodding.com/enginem....ocks/index.html

It looks like the key was the upgraded Vortec style 305 castings part# CH305A from EngineQuest. They also upgraded the cam and stuck an edelbrock intake, but damn thats some good power. Even the torque was nice and smooth.

Thats an awesome build. Whatever I gain out of my current setup is as far as its going. The next build is going to be using a tuned port fi system on a 350cuin+ block.
