Yeah thats what I thought she meant but she has so much going on she didn't remember exactly what it was. I still think I need lifters though. I'm not convinced that its just rockers. I guess we will see. I'm gettin my car tuned on Monday so hopefully I can get the kinks out of it.

I want to but first I gotta find a job. And figure out the lifter situation. The damn lifters still tap. Roller rockers aren't supposed to be noisier right? Because the rollers I got are still makin noise.

Lethal Performance, Fuel Injection Specialties & Henderson Performance all have one. Henderson has a 4wd dyno to.

Having a form of income helps. What roller rockers do you have? Do you have screw in studs and guide plates? Better yet, what heads are you running?

I got 1.5 rollers made by Warhammer Racing. Heads are from a 72 Camaro so guide plates are part of the head. I don't think the studs are screw in.

I've never seen a head with guide plates without screw in studs. Can you post a pic?

Well their not technically guide plates but they have the slots that the pushrods go through. I'll try to snap a pick today. I think I didn't set the poly locks right...so they loosened up. Doh. I better double check.

oh, okay. I know which ones your talking about. No need for the pic. Does the ticking come from all the rockers, or have you singled it down to a few?

Its definitely from more than a few of the rockers. Thats what leads me to think I didn't lock them right. What is the right way? I Haven't been able to find it online. I wish I had a starter button so I could bump the starter myself. I can only do half the motor by myself.

I do them a bit differently. Starting with cylinder 1, I turn the crank until the intake valve is fully open or slightly closing from peak lift.
Then I place a .015 shim in between the roller tip and valve on the exhaust.
I tighten slowly keeping an eye on the lifter. It should collapse. When it appears to bottom out, I back off 1/8-1/4 turn.
Remove shim, do finger test on pushrod. I do a rocker test, by pressing on top edge of rocker(by pushrod) to feel for a slight "click".
After doing both valves, move on to next cylinder.
While I rotate the crank, I usually go back and check the completed ones. Just to double check. After they are all done, I do a third check.
I never have to re-adjust while running.

Hmm ok. I can't watch the lifter though, I have the intake on. Or do you just watch the pushrod sink into the lifter? I'm gonna go try to readjust them and see what happens.

just watch the lifter sink. you may need a flashlight. I did that for a friend once.

Ok well I think I got it solved. A couple of the locks came loose. I didn't get the set screws right the first time I did it. They should be good now. If they do it again...I'm lost.
