Sorry for the delay, I've been keeping uber busy. I've taken it to the track to only find out my injectors are too small. My 60' times dropped 3-4 tenths to 2.3/2.4. Best time was a 15.7 vs near stock 15.8. I ran the numbers and at 3500rpm I was losing fuel. it would just lean out. I put in bigger injectors and will be taking it to the track in about 2 weeks. With the old injectors, I was maxing them at 240hp. The new injectors should max around 300hp- which is my goal.

I wish my 60 ft. times were that good. Today I took mine to the track for the second time and only managed to run a 15.08 with a 2.7 60 ft. Sounds like a beastly car though, maybe I'll see you out there!

Weather permiting, I'll be going on the 16th. I'm not a guru on carbs, but I've been known to tweak a few. NO edelbrocks, sorry.

I have a Holley so if you could help me out that'd be awesome. I know some stuff but not a whole lot. I'm not a fan of edelbrock carbs either. I gotta remember that date now to see if I can catch you while your there lol. Hopefully I can get my valves figured out by then.

townaj, what kind of motor do you have? What size/series Holley are you running?

Its supposed to be a 383 but it was bored 60 over so its actually a 388. Not sure on the series for the Holley, I just know that its old, and its a spreadbore. Vacuum secondaries and it had electric choke until I took it all off. The cfm is either 600 or 650, don't remember which. Cam came with the block new but without a card. Its from GMPP about .480 lift, unknown duration. Heads are 71-72 Camaro with larger valves. Weiand intake, hedmann headers, scat crank and rods, speed pro pistons, and its a 4 bolt main.

I can't remember a 600 spreadbore by holley, but then again there are many carbs they made I haven't seen yet. I'd put my money on it being a 650. Most .480 cams are 225-235 duration @ .050. I'd venture to guess your around 380-400hp. If you can get details on your heads I could get a closer estimate.

I'm pretty sure it is a 650 then. But with that much power shouldn't I be running a ton faster than 15.08? I don't have flow estimates or anything if thats what you mean. The compression is somewhere around 9.6:1 if I remember correctly.

If you had that much power you would be running in the low 13's possibly high 12's. There is definitely something wrong. If you have a 383 you really need to be running a 750.

I will clean off my 84 and bring it out for some fun. I would suggest picking up a mechanical secondary 650 or 750. Set the fuel jets the same on primary and secondary. Currently I an running 76 jets 50cc pump on the primary and 32 sprayers.

I definitely need a new carb. This one leaks pretty bad. I bought it used so thats why I don't know too many details on it. I'm just trying to find a medium point between a gas guzzler and not so bad of one. Thats why I wanted the vacuum secondaries. I know they don't give you as much power, but they have better mileage usually. This isn't an all out drag car, just one I take to have some fun in and blow off some steam.
