I know some of you are wondering what the heated debate is about, so i will fill you in.
We had a BBQ at a members house in Converse last month and were doing a transmission swap in the driveway. When were about to put the replacement tranny we decided it would be best to wait until i could get it tested to make sure it would run.
It was agreed i would leave the car there and for the majority of the month it was locked up. I left it unlocked one day for him to able to move it around the driveway.
One day on a Thursday something happened that involved several members, what exactly happened is unclear but what is known is that Mick was seen going through my car. It seems people were there but for some reason did not stop him.
I had the car towed home and when going through the car i noticed the Hotchkis strut tower brace in the trunk was missing, the radar detector removed (it was wired through the headliner and the dash and everything was reassembled), the K&N air filters, the MAF sensor boot and air cleaner box and the Optima red top battery.
In the place of my air cleaner box and the MAF and boot, there was a similar setup that i had seen on Mick's car when we worked on his. When i examined it, it had a crack in it just like Mick's did. When i asked him about it, he said his car was broken into as well, and that the thief probably took the parts out of his car and put them into mine.
One day we went out to Biff's and Mick was there and for some reason his car would not start. We offered to give him a jump but for some reason he would not pop his hood. He seemed quite red and flustered for some odd reason. Anyhow, some of the members of the other club pushed him out and he was able to get his car push started.
He went home and came back with a red top battery that was missing the stickers on it. He said his shop teacher had a couple of them and he could get it for "free". If you dont know what a red top battery is, its a spiral core battery that could be about double the regular cost of a traditional battery.
When i went to go pickup my jack at the place where my car was, there was a note attached to my MAF sensor on the members porch, and along with it was the boot. Scroll down for the scanned copy of the letter.
So far i have received a couple items back and am still waiting for the others.
