Where did you buy the ignition module from? If you bought it from advance auto i would take it back. I try to only buy parts from Oreillys since they carry Borg Warner.
I bought one from Autozone because i couldnt afford the original AC Delco ignition module. The Wells brand seems to be ok, it only fried when i put the 50,000 Volt coil on.
What i can tell you in regards to compatibility with the GM electronics is that the GP Sorenson brand doesnt work too well with the TPI and i know the MPFI is very similar so they must be really close. I tried 3 or 4 GP Sorenson TPS sensors and none of them would work well, the car kept revving up and down and stalling.
I took it back and the guy was like damn, here is your money go somewhere else. Thats when i went to Oreillys and got the Borg Warner one, they make some good quality parts. I think that TPS is till on the car, and so is the Borg Warner IAC.

Okay, well, my car wouldn't start last night when I stopped to meet up with Thomas over off 1604 and Culebra. Once it cooled down it started right up but, I was drunk once it cooled so I left it there till this afternoon. I almost made it all the way home when it shut off at the I-10 and wurzbach light...had to roll it under the bridge. Left it there a few hours and came back, started up and drove the rest of the way home luckily...I hate waiting for tow trucks.

Well we removed the distributor and knocked out the roll pin and reassembled it with a new pickup.
Getting the car back on time was reallllll fun, we thought we had it when we put the dizzy back in and then it ran really advanced. Made a loud loud bang on restart, and we saw smoke come out.
This is what we learned (thanks thomas for helping)
There are two strokes the pistons go through in every 720 degrees, remember there are 360 degrees in a circle. There is a compression stroke and an exhaust stroke. (2 revolutions = intake + exhaust)
If you lose the position of the rotor and didnt mark it when you removed the distributor or it doesnt run right when you replace it here are the steps..
1 Loosen the distributor hold down bolt enough so you can pop the distributor up and out.
2 Remove #1 spark plug and wire. Put something in the spark plug hole that wont fall in (we used the square end of an extension)
3 Crank the engine over slowly, bumping it, until you hear and see the gas vapor shoot out of the spark plug hole, or the extension pops out. Thomas says to put your finger in the hole... (It will shoot out harder 1 out of 2 revolutions - TDC)
4 Look at the balancer and verify that the mark is at TOP DEAD CENTER
5 Pop the distributor up and rotate the rotor until PHYSICALLY points at #1 spark plug position. (This might take awhile. )
6 Make sure the distributor seats all the way down in the gear and make sure its pointed at #1 and not any other plug.
7 Tighten down the distributor
8 Crank the engine and pray (you might have to turn & rotate the distributor in a counterclockwise manner while its cranking to make it start, if it cranks without trying to start for awhile)
9 Use a timing light and set base timing again ( do a search )
After doing this we got it to start right up.
Jim i have the timing light now, call me tomorrow

I unplugged the brown/yellow wire and then turned the car on, timed it to 10°, turned off the car, and then plugged the wire back....car ran...the same as before. Going to try to switch the module once more because it ran perfect when I first switched it, next time I tryed driving it it went back to normal. If this doesn't work...I dunno.
