I was driving my dads camaro the other day (5.0L 1986 electronic carburated, with the cat gutted) and the check engine light comes on and off continuously like a blinking light on crack. As you rev the engine the blinking gets faster, as you let it rev down it slows down. No codes have been set and with the diagnostic scanner sometimes i get data and sometimes everything says zero. This is not normal for the ECM to blink the light like this, even in field service mode, it still will only blink the light once every 2 seconds or so.
If you let off the gas, it stalls. Sometimes it will run fine and be ok and then sometimes it just will not run without you having your foot on the gas. Intermittently if you rev it past 2500 rpm it will fix itself for just a split second and then start faulting again.
Anyone got any ideas?

Hey man my book doesn't have much info on the CCC system, from what you say I would replace the pick up coil or compleate distributor if you have a spare depending on where you buy it they may call it a ignition stator. Also check your spark if it is weak it needs the pick up and maybe a module or a coil, If you want i have a new coil you could try.

I think you are probably right Thomas, my first instinct was that it has something to do with the distributor. The problem first started the night after i took it to a car wash.
My dad thinks its the ignition module, since when you rev it to 3000 to 5000 RPM, the engine will run fine. Its got something to do with the pickup or the ignition module.
At first i thought it was the computer, but it still runs, just very poorly and it stalls if you take your foot off the gas. We are going to replace the module first and then if thats not it, we are going to replace the entire distributor b/c i dont want to do the pickup coil, its not fun.
Thanks man
