Ok so i finished putting in the radiator and the majority of the accessories back on. I plugged the MAF back in and the Fans. When i was connecting the battery i heard the relays clicking in the fuse box by the battery and the computer over on the other side by the firewall. All of a sudden i heard this big BANG, this amazingly loud popping noise and i ran over to the ECM box and there was smoke coming out from around it (electrical smoke). I couldnt tell if it was coming from the harnesses there or from the computer itself. Does it sound like i popped a fusible link or the computer popped? I am running out of time to get this car fixed, so if anyone can help i would appreciate it. I have to get it running by Wednesday.

I was looking at the wiring and decided to take the battery out so i could look at the ECM without shorting it out. I realized i made a boo boo.
When we first started taking it apart, my gf's brother and i were removing this ground cable near the battery that was preventing us from pulling the battery up and out. Well the retaining bolt fell down in the black hole and we just forgot about it.
When i removed the battery the second time, i noticed the loose ground wires under and around the battery and said Ohhh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
I need to find a replacement bolt because this ground goes from the battery cable directly to the body. I am crossing my fingers about the computer and fusible links...

I located the proper bolt for it, turns out its just a standard (or metric that is) M6x1.0x16mm but with a tapered end for easy insertion.
I filled up the radiator and got everything tightened down, turned on the car and it runs! Only thing is it overheats, at least the gauge says so. I didnt see any bubbles in the overflow tank and the engine itself only seemed marginally warm.
I'm thinking it has a clogged thermostat or maybe a bad temp gauge. Only thing is the fans come on about halfway up the temp scale and stay on even when the car is off. The hoses seem to be full, at least the hose to the engine thermostat housing seems full of water.
Hmmm....

Have you checked to see if al the air is out of the block, some gm's have a bleeder to get the air out of the block.

I'm pretty sure it has plenty air in it. I saw it bubbling the air in the overflow tank. It has a bleeder on the thermostat housing and on the water pump housing itself. (i looked in the book lol)
Would this make the car overheat? I mean that sucker went to HOT on the gauge, all the way over.
Curious thing is that when i touched the radiator cap it was cold, but the upper radiator hose was hot to the touch. The engine was pretty warm and the fans were definitely on. The lower radiator hose wasnt as full and it didnt seem to be that hot.
I think on this model the coolant temp sensor doubles as a gauge sender but im not 100% certain.
I'm not sure how to bleed it, guess ill just run the car and open up the screws a couple turns and see how that goes.

I let it sit for awhile, and the radiator sucked in a bunch of coolant from the overflow tank. I let the engine get warm and then i bled it like you said, apparently that was it.
I drove it around for awhile, and kept bleeding it little by little and adding more coolant to the overflow. I think its good to go, ill keep my fingers crossed.
