I just got my hands on a muncie for cheap. Just wondering what you guys think about trashing the t-5 for it. With the engine build going the way it is... that t-5 will explode in no time, so im thinking the muncie will work for my street machine, and no im not worried about the gas mileage hit, thats what i got the ole beater s10 for. Any ideas, suggestions, etc would be awesome.

Definately swap, but don't trash the T-5, someone may buy it off you.

gimme the t-5 for my 383 i have a guy who builds em world class for me, i can use it and muncie is head and shoulders over the t-5 for torque compatibility but the bellhousings are notorious for cracking under constant loads ie:drag racing and the soon crack down to the gear box with makes them irrepairable i see it in my tranny shop all the time but it's usually behind big block rats so you may be ok

Im not sure if im going to do the muncie swap just yet. Im having some issues figuring out where to get a new 17deg. bellhousing and trying to figure out the torque arm hookup and the hydraulic to manual clutch adaptation. If i get it figured out ill let you know about the tranny, the next option im going to use is a richmond six speed.

The muncies are 4 speeds but they dont have overdrive, just keep that in mind if you are going to take it on the highway. The 4th gear on the muncie is 1:1 ratio and the same ratio as 4th gear on the T5.
