I have been wanting to do a performance 305 build on the side but I am thinking it may just be better to go the 350 roller route.
I would like to buy a 350 roller block, and rebuild it to take a mild performance cam like the LT4 hotcam.
This engine would be daily driven but would want it to make some good power as well.
Would be nice to run on pump gas and stay around 9.5:1 compression.
Any advice on pistons, rings, crank, etc etc?
Is it worth it to buy a block with spun rod bearings?

It looks like I found me a roller block and its a 93 model.
What are the best stock heads to run stock compression but get pretty good flow? Looking to run 87 octane if at all possible and wanting to stick with the LT4 hotcam or milder.

I would try to find some double hump heads Brian. Not sure what the part number is but try Craigslist or ebay. I think they would work well with the setup you posted. Good to hear that your going with a 350. It will be a better if if you want to upgrade later . Carb or EFI?

Thanks, I will keep an eye out for them.
I am going to keep it TPI until I get the bug to upgrade to the stealth ram or something.

Valve seats would need to be machined for unleaded fuel and they don't have accessory bolt holes.

Camel humps...my bad. I had a brain fart. If you have some cash brian, you can probably buy some S/R cast iron heads from world products or how about some vortec heads?

350 build has to be put on the back burner on warm, even lower than low.
I would like some heads with decent flow and keep the TPI manifold. If I can find a used lower TPI Vortec manifold for an affordable price, I would definitely make the jump to Vortecs.
I need to focus on A/C right now, I have a leak somewhere and this 100+ degrees is killing me. I am using the IROC as a daily right now and got to shift focus to keeping me alive.

vortec heads are the best bang for buck right now. Why not use your current tpi intake? enlarge the center holes and use the adapter plugs from professional products. Its an alternative if you just can't find an intake.
