It wasnt the Camaro, it was the Rendezvous. Anna and I were on Bandera going the speed limit and this full grown deer flashed into the head lights. Before I could finish pointing and say anything we hit it and the bags deployed. Appraiser came by and said its a complete loss because the airbags deployed. I already found a front bumper cover and impact absorber, set of used airbags, headlamp, module (if needed). Also found the impact sensor(s)? needed to be replaced as well. Does anyone know how much it would cost for a airbag module to be reset/recoded? I found a place on ebay that will do it for $55.

That's a big bummer dude. The good is nobody got hurt (did they?). How did the deer make out? You got deer meat in the freezer know?

We are both ok. The appraiser and I were trying to figure out what happened to the deer, because we couldnt find it. There is no blood or damage to either side or roof of the car so we figured that it probably got bounced off to the left of the car.
We called the police and reported the incident just in case the deer was suffering.

BTW, Thomas, I bought the cheaper Lisle airbag removal tool for the Rendezvous because I didnt want to wait for the auction to end on the GM Kentmore tool. The Lisle tool was actually hardened steel and basically the same thing as the GM tool. After messing with it for awhile I was going to get a crowbar and kill the thing, but I pushed on the tool the opposite way and the top of the airbag popped out and worked the same way for the other side.

Me too, but theres so much crap to check. I am going to need to check the clock spring to see if it melted and to check for continuity. I just learned that its possible it has seatbelt pretensioners and im going to have to check those as well. I still need to get the SRS module repaired/reprogrammed, the new airbags installed and replace the front impact sensors. The new dash will also have to go in because the old one got trashed by the airbag. Anytime you want to breakout the buffer and start mad waxing let me know

The other day it was nice and windy for most of the day so I decided to tackle to the dashboard. Dashboard and the interior completely disassembled: Dashboard in and secured, cluster in: Steering column back up, accessories installed: Center console installed, most of the interior trim back on: Interior almost completely reinstalled, new passenger airbag: I accidentally broke the cheap, flimsy plastic hinge on the glove box so I am going to fix that part as well. The airbag in the steering wheel will be replaced after we dye it tan. I replaced the blower motor resistor pack when I was down there, it was almost impossible to get to the screws. There we go, with most of the trim removed, I worked from 6 am to 1:30PM on Sunday and got it done. The GM service manual really helped with taking everything apart.
