For the first time since I bought my car, the rear hatch motor actually works. I found another hatch motor assembly in the garage that my father had bought me, I never put it in because it was missing the electric hatch release. I also found a new set of guides at the junkyard in a camaro so I was ready to go. I removed the middle pin from the old and replacement assemblies and swapped parts. Then I greased the guides with white lithium grease and screwed the bolts into the plastic housing. I plugged it an it works nice. Closed!

Thomas, thanks for the hatch struts, I found them in the garage and installed them last night. Now I have a working trunk and I dont need a prop when I open the back up.

awesome! Do you have any extra hatches lying around? Apparently the last owner welded mine.

The hatch itself or the pulldown assembly?
I only have parts left over from the parts swap I did. I have an 86 hatch with the top mounted brake light that I am contemplating putting on the IROC.
I drove it hard today, and no exhaust smell is creeping back into the car.

I have an extra rear hatch pulldown with the motor and all. I got it from the junkyard out of an 87 GTA but it doesn't fit at all in my Trans Am. Bolt holes are way different. So if you're interested I still have it.
