I went and made a few passes. I severely need to beef up the rear suspension, as my 60' ft times were really bad. my best pass had one of the better 60' ft and reaction times. Will scan and load tomorrow. Car #35 mods- shorty headers/upgraded pump/61# injectors/throttle body spacer/my tune

Thats not bad man, thats a good time for a 305 car.
The LCA and Panhard rod upgrades are worth it though, more stability in turns and better launches. Get some poly sway bar bushings with the upgraded sleeves and that car is going to turn great.
What gears did you say you were running in your car?

I thought I had 3.08's, but not after this. I crossed the line around 5500 rpm. According to the computer, it comes out to 3.42's. I'm working on getting an lsd and adjustable torque arm. My friend has one and his 60' ft times are around 1.6-1.7. Which might get me to break into the 14's

14's on a 305 TBI, naahhh ahhh dude
The lower control arms will definitely help with your launch though. I ran against Daniel with his TBI and he had 4.10 gears and we were neck and neck up to 80 mph, and he had a 5 speed in his car. He went through 5 gears and I went through 2 gears.
This was with my TPI Z28 when I had that open 2.73 rear end in it. It was god awful acceleration.

Daniel is running too much gear, leaving him way out of his powerband- if he was running a setup similar to mine.

One time I pulled into an autozone on the southside and there was an older gentleman with a blue IROC, and he popped the hood on his car. It was a bone stock looking 305 engine with a Q-jet on it, no emissions, no air filter, just the damn engine.
So we ran and I smoked him but he said his car bogged out hardcore and we pulled into a gas station. I looked inside and saw that it was a 5 speed. I had my buddy with me and I rolled my eyes because I thought he was blaming the carb.
He twiddled with the Q-jet a little bit and put some gas in and off we went. We went again and boy that car was quick. Everytime he shifted the rear end shook and my jaw dropped. It was no contest, that car was way too quick.
It went from being a bogger to a fast little sob. We pulled over again and he told me that he stripped out all the emissions stuff, and that the 5 speed and the performance gears are the key. This was way back in the day when my LB9 was bone stock and had the peanut cam in it.
I wish you could have met Daniel when he was alive. He lived out there on the southside too. Green camaro with chrome IROC wheels. Maybe you have heard of DVS Performance?

I just got back the intake from being machined. I'll be installing it on saturday and if all goes well, tune on wednesday.

I would have to agree with brian. We were running 14's all night long with a relatively stock 350 with drag radials. If you work the suspension, you will definitely see results. 1.6-1.7 60's? What is your friend's setup? Our 60's are in the 2.10-2.20 range with the new carb with no aftermarket suspension parts and 4.11 gears.

A ported set of LB9 heads like the 416's (perimeter bolt) or 081's (center bolt). The 416's are reported to be the best set of stock 305 heads out there, 58cc chambers with a tall short side radius, smoother exhaust runner and larger 165cc intake port. The 081's should be basically the same thing, just designed for roller cammed engines. Take out the 1.84" intake valves and install the 1.94" valves. (This is what I have in my yellow camaro) Can you take perimeter bolt pattern heads and convert them to center bolt style? Add some upgraded rear suspension parts, like the boxed lower control arms for launching and you got yourself a potent little combo. I think the heads + your combo with a TPI would break into the 14s, so the TBI should be really close to that. www.thirdgen.org/techboard/tech-general-engine/23952-lb9-lo3-heads-different.htmlwww.hotrodders.com/forum/best-305-build-64124-2.htmlwww.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t581086.html

My friend has an adjustable torque arm, adj lca's, adj pan hard bar and drag radials. He drove my car and was able to get a 2.20 60' ft on my car, but kept missing 3rd gear. I'm running 3.42s not 4.11s on a stock suspension. I've just installed the intake this weekend and will try to head back out to the track on friday. I'd go this wednesday, but I have other crap to tend.

Unfortunately, testing is going to wait for another two weeks. I installed an intake this weekend not noticing the water leaking into the oil. So I'm not taking a chance and rebuilding the 305.

That sucks man, while you have it apart.... freaking heads dude, you should be able to find them next to free on the southside at one of the machine shops.
The small valve size and the small bores are the bane of the 305, but good flowing heads and that cam you picked should help get the air flowing.
