Only thing on mine you can tune is the carburetor.

lucid -I have a wideband, need to finish hooking it up to the apu1 and connecting it to tunerpro. I could also use the software it came with. I'll get some bungs and we can see about getting together some time this weekend.
eric - lol, yeah the only way to do yours is at the track. if its a vac secondary, a quick change spring kit will come in handy. So will the accelerator cams and a holley assorted jet pack. Not to mention the power valves...

Nice! not much to tune, mainly jet it as close as possible and play with the acceleration cams.

Monkihead: does your shop work on transmissions?
My 86 has a 4L60 that was rebuilt by Big John from SAFbody and I installed it myself. I did the best I could, but from a noob standpoint maybe I messed up putting the detent mouse trap in? I was replacing the starter and I noticed that I was leaking from somewhere along the tranny lines.
I bought a set of replacement transmissions line at the JY and they are ready to go in. I also have a brand new detent cable. The trans guy I used to go to, cut off the factory lines at the radiator and ran rubber hoses to an aftermarket trans cooler that goes in front of the radiator.
The car takes off in 2nd gear in automatic mode and wont shift in to 4th and has trouble shifting into 3rd sometimes. Its not a flare, its just like those gears dont exist.
The car has been sitting for way too long and I would like to get it back on the road before the tires rot.

Unfortunately I don't dig into trannys very often. I can refer you to someone I trust. He built my dads 700r4 to handle a 500hp 383.
the 4l60 is computer controlled, did you wire in the computer? or did you turn it into a 700r4 cable driven?
as for the aftermarket cooler I'd keep it, they keep trans temps lower than the stock radiator end caps.

No, the 4L60 is a hydraulic valve body transmission. Its a 700R4 but with a different name. It was replaced with the electronic valve bodied 4L60E.
It ran ok for awhile, but it always started off in 2nd gear. When I manually shift it, it goes into first and takes off normally. The shifts are lightning quick with no harshness.
Big John built the 700R4 in his LT1 car and that thing runs 11s.
I would like to talk to the gentleman who built your dads tranny, maybe its something really simple. Or maybe he can drive it tell me what the problem is.

It sounds like he may have put in a manual valve body assembly.
Redline transmissions on marbach did his, ask for Jose.
