Has anyone tried to convert a non-cargo cover car over to a a cargo cover hatch? My 86 has the cargo cover and I was looking at it recently and peeked behind the panels and saw there is a metal tab back there that holds the roller pad in place. Normal cars have the template on the back of the body panels for you to cut out but are missing the metal tab reinforcement. I really want to do this to cover the contents of the hatch. Someone elses fabrication: www.thirdgen.org/techboard/interior/603975-cargo-hatch-cover-installation.html#post4839227

I have a cargo cover and that link was pretty interesting. I'm considering making a solid panel- like a fiberglass panel. my cloth piece has gone flimsy.

sounds like a good project. Id be very interested in seeing the results of fabricating a fiberglass panel.

I got my amp kit in today, it says 200 watt but its 8 gauge so it can support the 500 watt amp.

Rear panels completely stripped: I also listened to the speakers in the back. The previous owner stripped some of the mounting holes for the speakers and some of the holes for the mounting block are loose as well.

I took the plunge and cutout the templates tonight: I wont cut out the side tabs unit I have the brackets in the car and ready to go. I really hate the interior color. I am debating whether or not to plastic prep them and dye them black.

I know people have painted them in the past. Ive pieced my black interior together from cars at the pick and pull. Last week I scored a t-top overhead console with the map light still intact!

Sweet, I am probably going to head out to pick n pull tomorrow. I been meaning to go all week. I bought a big tool bag with a built in extending handle to put my tools in and haul it around.
The kid that owned the car before me stripped most of the interior out of this one and put it into his other car so I been hunting down interior parts for awhile. All the damn seatbelts are different colors and the headliner/sail panels/sun visors that I bought at picknpull are faded and worn out.

I went to the Pick N Pull today and found a car with nice black interior plastics in them. It was a cargo cover car as well but was missing the cargo cover. The only problem was that half of the panels were cracked or broken because the dipshit that was pulling them out damaged them. I did, however, score the decklid cover with the bracing for the cargo cover, the rear hatch motor cover, one of the lower rear trim for the seatbelt and the passenger side cargo area minus the spare tire cover. I also found the mounts for the cargo cover, the trim covers for the strut bolts (i never seen these before) and a couple of small parts. Eric: there is a firebird all the way to the back of the lot that has the passenger side fender with the fender vent cutout. The vents themselves were taken out and left in the engine bay near the master cylinder. I ran out of time, or else I would have pulled it and some other parts.

Good score! Cant go wrong with a black interior. I'm actually looking for a fender WITHOUT the vents. My car will pretty much be a GTA clone and since the GTA's did not have the vents those are the ones I'm looking for. I just cant find a good one.

That seems to be the going rate for those things. I am watching one on Ebay right now. Thirdgenranch wants $30 for shipping to my zip. I've bought stuff from him on Ebay before. Sometimes the quality is excellent and sometimes its really dirty or not whats pictured. Assuming that Thirdgenranch.com and the Thirdgenranch seller on ebay are the same person/entity: myworld.ebay.com/thirdgenranch
