hey guys! got another chevy VS. Ford thread.. but my cuz thinks he can spank my camaro and havent raced him yet.. but what do you guys think who whould win. i have a 89 RS camaro with a 99 LS1 swap with a t-56, 1 5/8 LT headers CAI, 3 inch exhaust with dual high flow cats including 100% mandrel bend 3 inch tubes all the way to the rears. also have a tubular K-member and a sports tune tune.. my cuz has a 95 five-o with heads, mild cam, upper and lower intake, CAI, high flow MAF gutless exhaust, larger injectors, tuned and of course full exhaust.. he hasnt taken it dyno'ed or at the strip.. but curious on who might get the win. both driver's are skilled and raced alot in each others belts. who has the advantage?
once we actually race im planning on recording it and show who wins.. but would like to know wht im getting into..

it would depend on his cam and gears. Is his auto? 94-95 models don't usually get too big of a cam due to the efi system using both maf and map sensors. Unless he converted to a fox body maf system I wouldn't be too worried. your k-member and aluminum heads are going to help, even with a stock cam. I'm willing to bet on your car, the amount would be based on your gears, his gears and tranny type.

It'd be a good race for sure but I would have to say you have the advantage.

Your LS1 should rape that Mustang.
If it was an old school fox body mustang LX with lots of goodies, then it would be a competition.
The LX models weighed around 3100 and the GTs weighed about 3200-3300. The 95 GT is closer to 3400 lbs and the newer get chunkier to 3600lbs before they remodeled it.
The weight of your camaro and the mustang should be pretty close.
The Camaros also have a panhard rod, which the 95 model mustangs didnt.
I would seriously look at beefier lower control arms and panhard rod for better launches.

hey thanks guys.. i'm sure it will be a very close match. he claims he's around 300HP.. and he drives a manual. im kinda curious and bugging him to maybe try it out this weekend.. but he lives in austin. got a camcorder and likely record the race! but im sure we have to go at a roll due to my tires and lucid pointing out my suspension pieces. but just wanted to ask to see what i was getting myself into since he actually put plenty of money in his car.. he also told me he ovehauled the engine with performance pistons and crank. hope to find out soon!

Id say take it to the track and not on the street. Ive seen too many street racing accidents that could have been avoided.
