I'm planning on going out there, going to squeeze out what I can out of my car and a customers' ride.

well I logged the car today and found my problem. timing was a bit off and my clutch is on its last leg. I nailed it in 2nd @ 2k rpm, it shot to 4k, then fell to 3500 rpms. Dual friction clutch here I come!

I bought one a few days ago. It just I cant find the marks on the balancer yet. When i started to there was a long white line which I'm assuming is 0. So I had to go off that and I believe I have it around 11 or 12 degrees. Ill have to take another look today and Ill get back to you.

sounds good. have you ever set timing by total advance instead of base timing?

If you mean taking off the vacuum advance from the carb to do it then no I haven't. As you can see in the photo the timing tab USE to be orange which made it difficult for me to see the damn thing at all! So I put everything back together and got my timing light out again. The TDC mark on the balancer was WAY above the 12 degree mark. It had to have been around 30 at initial timing!!! So NOW its at 11 and I had to adjust the idle. I can only imagine how much better it runs now!
