Do you think it would be safe to put a couple of washers underneath the nut to bring it back up to the correct height?

I went to the PNP and managed to remove one today, someone had done most of the work already.
I am going to install it tomorrow and finally get my car up and running again, hopefully it will be ready for the BBQ this weekend.

Shes alive again
Took a lot of time, but installed the replacement spindle, and got the ball joint to thread just to the hole where the cotter pin lines up. Let me tell you, it rides so much better with the new strut mounts.
I have to give Kudos to advance auto parts, they loaned me a set that has a ball joint popper and a tie rod end puller in one kit. I needed both to get the spindle off.
The only thing is, its kind of darty now, little things in the road makes it dart back and forth. I think i overdid it on the worm gear, or the gear box is messed up. It seems to be very loose on the drivers side and really smooth on the passenger side (meaning when i turn the wheel to the left and right).
