well folks im in a strange situation here. i seemed to swap my rear end to a more popular 4th gen rear(drums to disk). i have everything needed, the rear end went in like it belonged there, got the rotors re-surfaced, bought new pads and got custom e-cables from HAWK assuming a easy ride to glory, right!?.. well im startingon this project and am allready having my headaches! my e-brake doesnt work!! how so! i've tightened the cables that engage and dis-engage the brakes and nothing! BTW the cables were and exact fit... i even rolled the tire and pulled the e brake, and nothing!! i went far enough to remove the rotor and went in there and tried to adjust it but NOTHING! except when i slightly move the rotor outward is when it really bites! but fully placed in. nothing! my only option is to buy new parking shoes.. so im looking online and a set of these suckers are about 100 bucks!! im just wondering if i missed anything else that i might have missed? any options would be great!
BTW what do you guys think of autozone brake pads? (duralast) i've heard stories of these boys wearing out pre-maturely. anyone has some stories? i heard o'reily is a good brand and of course, napa.. havent got a price on those suckers yet.. would it be advisable for me and anyone else to buy pads from these guys?
THANKS!

I use the Autozone semi-metallic pads, Ive had them under warranty for several years now and just replace them about every 8 months. If you are going to buy rotors, go somewhere else instead. The cheap chinese parts at Autozone are scary.
I really like the TRW parts from Advance, but for some reason the price of TRW parts have doubled recently for all the parts I wanted to buy. I am now buying parts from Pep Boys instead. For the price of one centerlink from Advance, I went and bought the centerlink and idler arm from Pep Boys.

lucid-thanks for the info. i heard about autozones reputation whn it comes to replacing parts. i heard that when it comes to aftermarket performance, and have a 4 bang'n ricer, autozone is your #1 source. lol. i heard about pep boys quality stuff, except heir stereos, pretty basic stuff. but i thought about it.
i figured out my own question, i decided to bite the bullet and buy me some new parking shoes from o'reilys, 97$ see how well the brands they carry are.. soon after i replaced the shoes and test them out.. long and behold, they dcided to bite with fury.. so i got e-brakes now! i checked out the haynes manual and recomened on replacing brake shoes that are less than .15 inches thick. the ones that were on it were .09, they needed replacing.. so those of you who have problems with e-brakes.. make sure your cables are properly adjusted, make sure they are not "frozen", if they are and want to find out take them off and pull on them manually to see if they move freely, if they dont.. they are frozen.. a cable costs u less than 40$.. also try to adjust the pads by turning the adjusting screw that holds the pads.. if all else fails.. you need some shoes... hope this helps others who go this direction!

Let me qualify my statement about Pep Boys, because they sell their own cheap chinese crap too. A lot of the power tools and some of the electronics they have are not much better than Harbor Freight. The more expensive lifetime warranty parts is what I meant to say was comparable with TRW. They do seem to sell Borg Warner and Bosch parts and also sell cheap introductory parts too; but all the stores do that.
I used to buy sensors and other electronics from Oreillys all the time. They also carry Borg Warner which, in my experience, is more compatible with the TPI system I have in both my cars. I had bad luck getting GP Sorenson sensors to work in my car. I went through 5 TPS sensors from them and eventually ended up getting my money back and getting a BW that worked on the first try.
GP Sorenson spark plug wires are pure crap as well.
