Thats just one example of the many solutions i have seen for people getting the accessories out of the way. Fortunately, using the R4 compressor with the serpentine pulley from the third gens is a pretty straightforward solution. Carlisle's does custom lines: www.carlisleautoair.com/I would use them as a baseline, because they charge $9 a bottle for R-134a and Big Lots have the bottles for $5 a pop. Also, they wanted $150 to make me a custom set for my thirdgen and I bought a new set from the dealer for $150. This was a few years back. Its looking good, you are brave to rip your car apart.

apreciate it lucid! i'll definately take a look at these guys hope to get some good pricing! and man, i know if i go without ac in san an, i would not enjoy my car as i should.. i would probably end up with a window unit in my car to evade heat exhaustion lol!!
things are getting a lil slow, i decided to tackle a summer class and government is a pain in the end! now i remember why it was my least favorite class. MAN its hard to stay focused. as far as the alternator clearance.. managed to find out that i can remove the brace to clear and save up to afford or figure out a way to raise the alt. higher. another thing i gotta do.. the power steering pulley needs replacing.. the entire thing broke off.. so now im wondering how to get the screw out.. do i need a pulley puller, a special tool, or just something to hold the screw and turn counterclockwise.. its what i eed to do to remove the screw rite? dont wanna mess nothing up.! so far the accessory drive has really gotten me to a rut. damn clearance issues. i'll try to post pics up on these issues. sorry for a slow built.. i'll promise i will do everything i can to finish this year. in the mean time its school and slowly get things done..

well folks i guess im doin either a miracle or some kind of one man wish job.. it sure is a PAIN.. i mean PAIN in the a$$ to install a tranny with almost 2 feet off the ground clearance.. im no bodybuilder, not some iron monkey dude lifting 500lbs. dumbells. but i managed to ALMOST install the tranny by myself.. MAN IS THIS TRANNY HEAVY! i mannagged to use plenty of bungee cords to assist with some of the weight to lift the thing including a normal jack. i seem to have the engine supported by a crappy jack everyone has in their trunk with a 2x4 to prevent damage to the oil pan.. heres the good one.. i got 2 load straps in both ends of a tranny being supported by the frame of the car.. its hella frustrating cuz i am at least an inch and a half away from fully insert the tranny to the bellhousing. im trying not to force the tranny in cuz all i need is more headaches and prblems along the way. its just crazy how close i am and being a pain! anyone know a trick to slap it in there?! i try to shimmy and shake while i push in. kinda worked but drew all my energy away. dont know wether i am asking for a miracle or another accident! lol. but im super cautious this time. got plenty of things under in case a jack stands slips or tranny slipping. but boy! i remember how easy it is to install a trany with a lift and 3 guys helping you out. manpower and having the right tools makes a difference! i managed to convince a buddy of mine to help me out this weekend to get this 10 ton tranny in! i'll take some pics and show how a crazy idea got me this close.. looks pretty crazy but it somewhow worked 'till now!

hello all! friday im gonna start to work on her through the weekend. im really crossing my fingers to finnally unite motor and tranny once and for all and start my favorite part of the swap.. wirring! im sure it will be super easy..! so far the most annoying and frustrating things i've encounteres so far on my swap is.. front springs put back in the tubular k-member, the accessories (in progress) which i mannaged to finally install a new pulley on the power steering pump thanks to a pulley kit, but i still got clearance issues, and the tranny. i just hope the crossmember from hawks is not in the need of fabrication. man that would ruin my day.. all know is that the metal gas lines need to be either moved up or something.. the tranny crossmember hits the lines. i'll take some pics of all these issues tomorrow and post them up for you guys to see. if i manage to take care of the tranny, then i will take a shower pop open a cold six pack of beers, order some dominoes and celebrate my victory!! lol! if not then i'll do it anyways.. c'mon the minor leages go to pizza hut after a defeat right! lol

VICTORY is mine! i got the crossmember installed, tranny mated to the engine! all i need is to somehow figure out my clearance issues with my accessories, (which i have taken pics and placed them on myspace, i think the link is on pg.3), some of the other things i gotta do is install the basic stuff like starter, radiator, rad. fans, rad. hoses, exhaust manif.. which BTW gto manifolds DO NOT FIT! the ends on these manif. flare out too much that its hairlengths away from touching the sidewalls. and the drivers side touches the brake lines. little info all should know about. but overall all i gotta do is the simple stuff and wirring~! MY FAV.!

well folks, it seems that i figured out my main dilema with the accessory drive. all i did was shave off a bolt from the tubular k member from spohn, but i am having problems with clearance from the ac compressor than i expected. i seem to have take off a huge pice from the brace than i anticipated. unless i wait till i figure out a way to raise the compressor to our original place in our 3rd gen. in the mean time i made enough space to clear the alternator. my main goal is to get the wiring done in order to get the car running. and im almost there! all i gotta do is hook up my exhaust an presto!!

it seems that i have done some crazy progress. today i managed to cut out a piece in the tunel to fit in the shifter stick, itwas like about a 1.5x 3.5 inches wasnt so bad.. now im doing all the little jobs here and there. i got all the plugs sensors and everything ready, put the radiator and fans, fill in all the fluids, tranny, engine, powr steer. etc, then put my center console back on with the boot in place. then get a alum. driveshaft from hp salvage, (hope he has one) with the tranny yolk. just hope i dont run to any problems which i will, custom work always has problems. like the orange county choppers. the big 'ol dude says he always fears after all the work is done, the engine wont start.. also like the show foose has when they are restoring a awesome classic and towards the end they have a mechanical problem.. man that is my number one fear..!

hey guys! im sure i am overdue to an update.. well here goes. so far i managed to install the alternator.. all i did was shave off a bolt from the brace in the tubular k-member from the spot where the alternator goes and it managed to go in nicely! the only problem i am having is the A/C compressor. one of the bolts seem to get in the way with one of the arms in the steering and prevents me from making right turns.. i managed to figure out by shaving off the bolt entryway by ALOT! i hope 3/4 bolts would b ok to operate and keep its sturdiness in keeping the a/c compressor where it is.. i did forget to pull up the gas pedal up some to give me full throttle, cuz thats inportant!! also i am bumping to a couple of problems with the gaas pedal. it seems that the hole originally from the tbi cable is causing the cable to stick.. so i am gonna have to make a new hole to relieve it from sticking. the little things are becoming ANNOYING!!! i do need to get some lowering springs in the front since the loss of weight raised it a couple of inches. that is still a project later on to tackle. everything is pretty much ready! i found a awesome place where they specialixe in ls1 swaps in town! almost 500$ to turn into a plug and play system, sure beats hawks at almost 1000 for the same thing.. what a STEAL!!! i am thinking of going there in person to check it out since they mentioned it will take 2 weeks to complete. man it looks like i should have this baby running by the end of the summer!!! super excited!!! i havent taken my pics to my cpu yet, but eventually i will.. i'll keep you guys posted!!!im almost THERE!!

oh yea and also i found out not to even consider using fram filters.. so whoever is using them THEY ARE NOT RECOMENDED!! the cause of that is that they use their endcaps made out of paper.. yes.. cardboard paper.. i did found out that the best stuff in filters are "purolator, NAPA, mobil1, and the top of the line... WIX. everything else is CRAP! im sure you all notice going to junkyards that all engines have the "orange can of death" fram filters.. so please i highly discourage this brand!! also stay away from K&N filters. they do the same job as purolator but K&N is more expensive due to all the hands of companies and advertisements.. it actually been rated about being the same performance as a NAPA filter.. and NAPA is cheaper!!! so please DONT USE FRAM!!!! for the love of all that is mighty! its not worth the "grip" thing it has.. why would you need it if you hand tighten a filter!!!! right!!

Hey guys! There isnt much to talk about the progress of my car besides that i've allready made an appointmen to have my baby towed to the shop that will do my wirring. Unfortunately they are all backed up from all the buisness they've been having.. Which is good for them, but i am gonna have to wait a little longer than i can wait. In the other hand it is convinent for me because it gives me time to order and install those nice headers hawks are making.. Its expensive, i know! But where else can i get me some top of the line headers built for a swap and fit nicely to our 3rd gens. So far i just need some little more things here and there. Like a battery and tube for a CAI. And after that its the exhaust and a/c and presto!! I started driving my rustang and now i remember why i wanted to throw it off a cliff while its set on fire and extinguish the flame with.. Man, too vulgar.. Ill just leave it like that.. Anyways, i got some pics in my cpu and when i have time upload it to myspace and see what u guys think!!

friday i went to the shop where they will do my wiring for my swap and i was pleased! these guys seem like down to earth crew! they showed me around and saw some really sweet hot rods! 69 camaros, one with a lt1 swap and another with a ls1, a really nice c6 corvette and a couple of 3rd birds and 1 camaro. talked about car stuff and shoot the Sh*t a bit, i felt like these guys care about their customers. the technicians took their time to get to know me and my views on my car and i was stunned by the amount of time to get to know them and dont see people as money. so all i have so far is good stuff for them so far. unfortunately my car wont be ready on my birthday : (, but it will be worth the wait!

Hey guys! well the place picked up my baby and hired a tow truck dude to my house at 9am and the tow had the nice flat bed so i was comfy that it was going to be looked at and wont be hurt during the transportation. unfortunately the folks who work there did tell me that it will take longer because they have been getting a high demand of wirring harnesses and are working on a couple of cars. so im like a couple of cars in line before mine gets to work.. i did see a nice red firebird who just had a ls1 conversion, looks pretty nice and has a nice mellow sound to it. has some flowmasters and the wirring looks very nice and clean. they did a super job at the guys firebird, so im excited how mine will look. gonna check time to time to see how things been mooving or not. at least they told me they would be done with my car 4-6 weeks from next week.. i guess it gives me time to save up some money to ask for little things that the car needs attention, wirring wise..
